The story is about Alqiu (阿勒邱) , a legendary well-known lady from Mu Family (木府). She was wife of Mu Zheng (木增), the 19th generation from Mu Family.
Historical Background and Leading Characters :
Mu Family was located in Lijiang, Yunnan Province. Since cultural revolution, the premises had been burned and now only three courtyards remained
The Mu Family become tourist attraction. It was said the construction of Mu premises somewhat similar to Forbidden City in Beijing. They were strong in economy, military, as well as culture. Mu's descendants had longed imbued Han's culture in their life.
Mu Zheng
Mu Zheng lived in 1587 - 1646 during Ming Dynasty. The Mu Family itself was reigning during Ming and Qing period.
Mu Zheng had become the chieftain of Mu Family since 11 years old and died in 36 years old. During his reign, Mu Family and Lijiang reached its Golden Age.
It's said that after his wife Alqiu died because of illness, he then succeded his throne to his son and exiled himself into the mountains, sitting next to his wife's tomb, as well as dedicated his remaining life to Taoism.
Alqiu
She was a symbol of Naxi women, ideal, perfect, a good wife, dilligent, nurturing children, wise, as well as representing the nature of heaven and earth.
In history, originally she was a country-girl from Lijiang Dam Waterfront that longed for city life. One day she walked in front of the majestic Mu Family's mansion. Astonished at the palace-like building, she came across with Mu Zheng, who later married her.
